Shane Sylvanspring is a passionate ecovillage designer and qualified town planner that has a strong drive to create regenerative communities. He has worked in government as a strategic and statutory town planner in two different states as well as being director of Planning Regenerative Communities Pty Ltd for eight years, privately working on planning proposals and development applications throughout NSW and QLD, including many landsharing communities.
After being part of management teams and community visionary of large ecovillage projects such as Bruns Ecovillage (NSW) and Bunjil Ecovillage (VIC), Shane successfully founded and developed the Balaya Buyul community in the Byron Shire where he currently resides with his wife and three children.
Shane is an Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) trainer with the Global Ecovillage Network and has delivered and developed many ecovillage design courses and programs in Australia and around the world. Shane has also helped develop ecovillage transition plans for indigenous communities in both Queensland and Fiji. After bringing together 20 years of knowledge and experience in the intentional community and ecovillage space, including residing in Findhorn Ecovillage (UK), New Earth Sanctuary Community and Moora Moora Community Cooperative (Victoria, Australia), Shane has applied his learned experience to the development and founding of the Afterlee Ecovillage.
